Where you stand matters.

Here’s how we do it…

Talk about what you have seen Jesus do and what you have heard Him say. Generously. Don’t hold back. Live out-loud. Refuse to sensor yourself. Love God both in private and in public.

Then look for where your words and actions are taking root and growing in the people around you. Your words and actions matter especially to thos with whom God has placed you! See them as they have been created by Jesus to be. Watch. And when you see they are ready, lead them to Jesus as you were led.

If you are not sure if they are ready, ask The Holy Spirit. He knows and will help you.

Teach them to follow Jesus as you have been taught.

And please, only do what you can and let God do the rest. No one forced you to surrender your life to God. You won’t succeed in forcing others.

Over and out.

Everything you need to GO, God will provide…

It began with a text. It morphed into a conversation. It resulted in two, $2,000 gift cards from Home Depot. Thank you Jesus! #thankyouhomedepot #thankyoukenzell

Reading chapter 19 & 20 of John’s Gospel and am stuck thinking about the follow words spoken by Jesus, “As the Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you…”

So how exactly DID the Father send Jesus? Without a whole lot of thought I came up with the following:

  • Undercover
  • To the least powerful
  • As a human being
  • As a servant
  • As a student… a learner
  • Beloved
  • Approved
  • Restrained / constrained
  • Free / generous
  • On a mission
  • With an open line of communication
  • Vulnerable
  • Powerful
  • With the Holy Spirit
  • As a team builder
  • As a declarer of truth / a preacher
  • As a miracle worker
  • At ease and at peace
  • As one who knew where he came from, where he was going, and to whom he belonged
  • With more authority than he would need

And We are sent by Jesus in the same way.

Reminded powerfully that when We are sent by Jesus, we can go in confidence, knowing that he who sends will provide everything we need to get the mission accomplished. So far we’ve seen God provide us with:

  • An unexpected income stream from renting out our house.
  • An unexpected and significant bonus (who knew??)
  • The for-mentioned gift cards from Home Depot (out of the blue)
  • The addition of three men to our Ranch family of men. (So far!!)

Jesus, give me eyes to see where you are leading, ears to hear your voice, and a courageous heart to follow you wherever you are leading.

I heard a call. Come follow, that was all. The things of earth grew dim. I rose and followed Him. I heard a call. Come follow, that was all.

Over and out.

Humility or Shame. You choose.

Abram was 75 when he left Haran with only a promise from God.

He was 86 when he decided that the promise from God needed some help. So at his wife’s insistence, he had sex with his wife’s servant and conceived a son.

And then when Abram turned 99 God showed up in a powerful way. He came with a command and He came with the same old promise. And he came as the bestower of a new name.

He fell on his face before God as “Abram.” He stood back up as “Abraham.” He would now spend the rest of his life known as the Father of many nations who has a son… one son. A son named Isaac which means laughter. Sort of an ongoing joke with a built in laugh-track.

Hello my name is “Father of Many Nations” and this is my ONLY son, “Laughter!”

Built in humility… or shame.

Abraham chose humility.

And the same is required of me… and probably you.

Here’s what I am learning.

  • Faith always means aligning what I think and do with what God has promised in the middle of circumstances that challenge the truth of what God has promised.
  • Walking with God is the win.
  • Often, when God shows up, I end up on the ground… on my face.
  • God has a sense of humor.
  • Always turn toward God with questions and responses. Never hide from or run from God.
  • In the end, listen to God and do what He says.
  • Over and out.

To honestly believe, is my one desire…

I read this morning God’s words to Abram. It went something like this… “Don’t be afraid, your reward will be very great!”

I love how Abram responds. He says, “That’s great O Lord but what you are talking about has to start somewhere and so far I do not have a single kid. You keep talking about giving me a family greater than I can imagine and yet I have no kids. So…what exactly are you thinking?”

God responds to what seems like a whole lot of doubting and whining with, “Don’t worry, I know what I am doing.”

And then I read these words in verse 6 of Genesis 15… “And he (Abram) believed! He believed God!”

    And how did God respond?

God declared Abram to be righteous…to be right with Himself!

So today, I’m planning to align myself with what God is promising me. I will speak honestly about my circumstances…to God. I will wrestle with Him and talk with Him and in the end I will believe Him.

And I will experience the goodness of God now. I will hear him say over me. You are my righteous and chosen one. You, Jeff are my treasured possession. What I have promised I will do.

    Believe you Me:-)!!!

    Leap of Faith

Take my trembling heart, my simple faith
    And keep me strong
Take my every step, my hopes and dreams
    And lead me on

Here I am, standing at the edge
I’m never going back, I’m never going back!

I’m letting go, not looking down
A leap of faith to holy ground
    Catch me when I fall
    Catch me when I’m falling

Take my beating heart, forever wild
    Forever Yours
Take my every breath and let me live
    For so much more

Here I am, standing at the edge
I’m never going back, I’m never going back!

A leap of faith to holy ground
    Catch me when I fall
    Catch me when I’m falling
You lift my head above the sky
And speak the words that let me fly
    Jesus, You’re my all
    Into You, I’m falling

You’re the One who knows my heart’s desire
You’re the One who leads me through the fire
You’re the One who saves me every time
And I trust You with my life
God, You say the word that sets me free
You’re the One who holds my destiny
You’re the One who saves me every time
And I trust You with my life

Here I am, You’re with me at the edge!

I’m letting go, not looking down
A leap of faith to holy ground
    Catch me when I fall
    Catch me when I’m falling
You lift my head above the sky
And speak the words that let me fly
    Jesus, You’re my all
    Into You, I’m falling

You catch me when I’m falling
    Jesus, into You, I’m falling
    Into You I’m falling

    [Spoken]

He’s the king that gave up His throne for the fallen
Finding purpose in the mess and beauty in the broken
He’s the rule-breaking rebel that tore up the laws
With a love so reckless it broke down death’s doors
Friend of the forgotten and lover of the lost
That leaves the ninety nine every single time no matter the cost
He’s the depth of the earth and the beat in your chest
Creator of the universe that moves my every breath
He’s the splitter of seas and He walks on water
Bringing peace to storms, like He’s friends with thunder
Knocking down giants and curing cancer
Just the mention of His name makes the enemy shatter
So we won’t stay silent and we won’t be afraid
‘Cause guess what? God and us share the same DNA
The freedom we’ll find when we take a leap of faith
‘Cause we were made to be wild, we weren’t made to play it safe

You lift my head above the sky
And speak the words that let me fly
    Jesus, You’re my all
    Into You, I’m falling

So we risk it all for a life of revival
‘Cause Jesus, You’re the One who has no rival
It’s only when we’re falling that we learn how to fly
This is the leap of faith

    Philippians 2:5-11

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, DID NOT COUNT equality with God a thing to be grasped, but EMPTIED himself, by TAKING the form of a SERVANT, being born in the LIKENESS of men. And BEING FOUND in human form, he HUMBLED HIMSELF by becoming obedient to the point of DEATH, even death on a CROSS. Therefore God has highly EXALTED him and BESTOWED on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should BOW, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Follow Jesus (dirty discipleship)

Love God. Love people. Invite them to come and see if Jesus isn’t who he says he is. Invite them to follow Jesus wherever he leads. Invite them to join you…

in loving God, loving people, inviting others to come and see if Jesus isn’t who he says he is, inviting others to follow Jesus, inviting others to join them in loving God and loving people…

Repeat until all have been invited or until you leave the planet.

    And that’s pretty much it.

    Take a deep breath.

    Rest.

    And then get to work:-)

“…The man who had died came out…”

I’m really happy this morning that the one who speaks to things that are dead with great effect is speaking to me today!!

    JESUS IS HIS NAME.

Today Jesus, speak to those parts of me that are dead. Cause dreams now dead to live again; relationships now broken, to live again. Evaporated hope to appear again! And may all those I love and care about “come home” again.

Today, I reset myself to walk with Lord Jesus Christ, the one who calls me His friend. I will follow Him where he leads. Together we will bring His kingdom near. May everyone I meet want to enter it.

    Over and out.
